Gus Belt, a mostly nonverbal student with Autism is a 9th grader in the Coffee Cart Program at Cotopaxi High School. The school boasts a population of 200 kids total from Kindergarten through 12th grades. Everyone knows Gus’ name but not everyone gets the chance to see what skills Gus has on a daily basis.
After greeting thirty-five (35) walk-in customers to the Coffee Cart Program classroom, Gus independently did his job as Greeter without any verbal prompts from his 1:1 aid and only used his own visual aid to greet all of the walk-in customoers from beginning to end.
We can’t wait to see how he improves! Keep following his progress.
